Mitch Mitchell is a Rock legend and inspiration to many drummers.
As the drummer in the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Mitch Mitchell was one of the greatest rock drummers of the 1960s. Mitchell was drummer on all of the Hendrix Experience’s recordings and some of his post-Experience solo outings, and was still in his touring band when Hendrix died in September 1970.

He used a variety of kits:
1.)Premier with 20″ bass & 14x 8″ top tom,
2.) Ludwig Silver Sparkle in the classic jazz setup:
22″ bass Drum
13×9″ top tom
14×14″ & 16×16″ floor toms
Ludwig Supra-phonic snare.
Cymbals varied but typically: 15″ Hi-hat,
20″ ride
20″ & 22″ crash
In 1969 he moved to a Ludwig double bass kit with 24″ bass drums and additional 12×8″ top tom

Sticks were medium/heavy and he played seated low in a hunched position.
Awesome post! My brother is a drummer and talks about him pretty often. I really love that fill he does at the beggining of Hendrix’s “Little wing”. its simple but effective, and supplimented hendrix’s playing well.
